These are the bookmarks I created between February 7th, 2008 and February 10th, 2008:

• Annals of Crime: Friend Game: Reporting & Essays: The New Yorker - A terribly sad article about hoaxes and suicides on social networking sites. This touches on several other sad stories I’ve read over the years (Miss Norway, A Rape in Cyberspace, etc.) To me, this represents just how signifcant the virtual life can be.
• etc3 Source - The source code for Erica T Carter’s digital poetry engine.
• A Companion to Digital Humanities - The entire anthology is available for free online. I haven’t read this yet, but it seems like it could be very interesting.
• Machinima from Second Life KLRU Event - This post features a video of the PBS event in Second Life at the virtual Austin City Limits. It was a well-attended event with a high quality audio stream sponsored by KLRU.
• About the Series | Situated Technologies - The About page for what sounds like an interesting series of pamphlets.
• Social Design Best Practices - OpenSocial - Google Code - An interesting list of things that social applications should do. This seems reasonable and useful.
• EPIC-FU - art+tech+music for geeks - A videoblog KThread recommended to me.

My Tiny Life: Crime and Passion in a Virtual World by Julian Dibbell (Book) in Computers & Internet

Long out of print, Julian Dibbell’s My Tiny Life is a must-read for any fan of online worlds, cyberculture, or plain old good storytelling. Check out the review I wrote last year in my library section for more on the book itself.

What’s especially cool today is that My Tiny Life is not only back in print, but it’s in e-book form (PDF) and downloadable for FREE. Awesome. So now you have no excuse for not reading at least the juicy first chapter. 

Well, ’tis the season for getting back on that horse. I have been away from the site for too long, a perennial habit of mine is neglecting things I love.

So by way of getting going again, I recommend checking out the several book reviews I added to the library. I have managed to pick some really good books this Spring/Summer. They have kept me thoroughly amused during my commutes into La Cite des Crystals.

And I’m glad to be able to link to Brian’s revived website, on which he has resurrected his magazine Puck as a weblog. He gave some great coverage to my project in process, exQorpse, which I will post about again in the near future. For now, check out his coverage and also all the other stuff rattling out of the Vault of BCC.

If the image above doesn’t stir any feelings of nostalgia or awesomeness deep in your soul, then you should definitely read Brian’s History of Permeable Press, which was one of the big little indy presses that made the 1990s so much fun for fiction. Well, maybe “fun” is the wrong word… Read the story and let me know what you think.

I’ll be working on something special for Puck, and also trying to get back into the swing of things.
